The Archdiocese of Cebu stands in solidarity with the Cebu City Government in declaring January 16 a “Day of Mourning” for the victims of the Binaliw landfill tragedy.
As of January 13, authorities have confirmed the deaths of 13 individuals, while more than 20 others remain missing.
Cebu Archbishop Alberto “Abet” Uy has called on all parishes across the Archdiocese to dedicate all Masses on this day to the victims of the tragedy, as well as to their bereaved families and loved ones.
May the Lord grant eternal rest to those who have died and comfort to those who mourn.
