Yesterday, March 21, the Archdiocesan Shrine of Patrocinio de Maria Santisima in Boljoon, Cebu, celebrated a Thanksgiving Mass for the unveiling and blessing of the returned Four Pulpit Panels.
Cebu Archbishop Jose S. Palma presided over the Holy Mass, joined by Msgr. Arturo Navales (Parish Priest), Fr. Brian Brigoli (Chairman of the Cebu Archdiocesan Commission on Cultural Heritage of the Church), and other visiting priests.
Archbishop Palma delivered his homily at the pulpit, wherein he reflected on the importance of the occasion, describing it as a testament to God’s love and mercy.
“Nganong importante kining panel pulpits? Kining pulpito nga nia ning atong pari mag sermon dinhi? Because the Word of God becomes alive when preached and when reflected upon, pamalandong sa atong kinabuhi, makaingon kita ‘salamat,’ ug kamo mismo makaingon just to remind us that when we open our hearts to the word of God bisan pag pagbasa sa mga sulat ni San Pablo, igka human niini, giingong, pulong sa Diyos. Mao nga ang koneksyon sa pulong sa Diyos ug ang sermon sa pari, mahinungdanon kaayo,” the Archbishop said.
He also encouraged the faithful to also give back the blessings God has given us, just as the pulpit panels have been returned to the parish.
“Kon nalipay kita sa Simbahan gibuhat sa bato, we should witness to the world that we are the living Church, proclaiming the love of the Lord and showing our gratitude through our faith, hope, love, and service sa atong kaigsuonan,” he added.
Prior to the final blessing, the official signing of the documents for the four pulpit panels was held, formalizing their return to the parish.
