Today, the St. Francis of Assisi Parish in Maslog, Danao City, Cebu celebrates its 40th Parochial Fiesta with the theme: “Kay sa Diyos kang gitugotan, San Fransisco sa paglaom ikaw sumbanan.”
Cebu Archbishop Alberto “Abet” S. Uy presided over the Holy Mass. He was joined with Fr. Isidrito Ducao II (Parish Priest) and other visiting priests.
Like St. Francis who poured his whole heart in doing good things to the poor and the least, Archbishop Abet, in his homily, encouraged the faithful to not waste their lives doing bad things, but instead do good, especially in times of trial.
“Ang atong panahon diri sa kalibutan atong ampingan ug gamiton sa maayo. We can leave this planet anytime, sayang kon atong usikan sa mga di maayong mga butang ang atong panahon diri … Si St. Francis nagpahinumdum kanato: Higugmaa ang mga kabus ug ang mga nanginahanglan tungod kay mituo siya sa mga pulong ni Kristo, ‘Whatever you are doing to the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you are doing to Me’,” Archbishop Abet exhorted.
