Despite being one of the areas hardest hit by the Magnitude 6.9 earthquake last September 30, and enduring a Magnitude 5.8 aftershock earlier today, devotees of the Blessed Virgin Mary gathered at the Capelinha de Fatima Replica in San Remigio, Cebu to celebrate the Feast of Our Lady of Fatima.

Cebu Archbishop-Emeritus Jose Palma presided over the Eucharistic celebration. He was joined by Cebu Auxiliary Bishop-Emeritus Emilio Bataclan and Msgr. Vicente Rey Penagunda (Vicar General), along with other visiting priests.

As tremors continue to strike through the region, Archbishop-Emeritus Palma reminded everyone that such challenges should not shake our faith in God and our devotion to Mama Mary. Instead, these moments call us to deepen our trust in them.

“Kanus-a matapos ning aftershock? Di ta sigurado. Pero, padayon kita sa pag-ampo. About the natural calamity, we could not do much about it. Kinsa man ang maka control sa linog? Diyos lamang ug Mama Mary. Nagtuo kita in God’s time, mahunong kini,” said Archbishop Palma.
