Today, the Christ the King Parish in Alang-Alang, Mandaue City, marked the 4th Day Novena in honor of its titular, Christ the King.
Cebu Archbishop Alberto “Abet” Uy presided over the Holy Mass. He was joined by Fr. Scipio Deligero (Parish Priest), Fr. Earl Sevilla (Parochial Vicar), and other visiting priests.
In his homily, Archbishop Uy posed a single, stirring question to the faithful: “If the world were to end tomorrow, what would you do today?”
The good Archbishop reminded everyone of life’s uncertainty, saying, “Tomorrow is never guaranteed to any one of us … so kon duna tay buot buhaton nga maayo karon, ayaw na paabota puhon,” inviting the community to act on goodness while they still can.
The Archbishop reflected on two powerful forces — the force of having and the force of giving — and urged the faithful to examine which one governs their lives.
“Kon ang tanan mulabay ra ining kalibutana, unsa may angay natong huptan nga attitude — kinaiya kalabot sa mga butang nga kalibutanon? …Kon ang force of having o ang pagkalaug, kini maoy maghari, gubot ang atong kinabuhi … Pero kon ang maghari mao ang mga magmahinatagon, pero if the force of giving dominates, surely there is joy, there is peace … Hinaut mag manggihatagon ta,” Archbishop Abet exhorted.
The parish will celebrate its 39th annual fiesta on Saturday, November 22. Cebu Auxiliary Bishop-Emeritus Emilio “Boy” Bataclan will preside over the 6:00 PM Fiesta Mass.
