Today, we commemorate the 112th Birth Anniversary of Venerable Teofilo Camomot.
Cebu Archbishop Alberto “Abet” Uy presided over the Solemn Pontifical Mass at the Saint Teresa of Avila Chapel, Valladolid, Carcar City, Cebu. He was joined by Tandag Bishop Raul Dael, and other visiting priests.
Reflecting on this year’s Handuraw theme, “Following the Footsteps of Venerable Teofilo Camomot: Living a Life of Generosity, Faith, and Service to the Poor,” Archbishop Abet, in his homily, called on the faithful to embody the Gospel in concrete and visible ways.
Drawing inspiration from the life of Teofilo Camomot, he urged the community to bring Christ into their homes and neighborhoods, ensuring that their faith is not only professed in prayer but made manifest through compassionate action and words.
“If our faith is not seen in our daily life, if it is not being practiced, there goes the problem. Unta, niining paghandum nato sa adlaw natawhan ni Venerable Teofilo Camomot, makadasig nato nga puy-an atong gipangtudlo ug ang atong pag-ampo ubanan sa kinabuhi nga dalaygon atubangan sa Diyos,” said Archbishop Abet.
Let us continue to pray for the elevation of Venerable Teofilo Camomot to sainthood.
