Bring joy and light, Archbishop reminds

Today, the Sto. Niño de Cebu Parish in Lower Mohon, Talisay City, Cebu, celebrates its 41st annual fiesta.

Cebu Archbishop Alberto “Abet” Uy presided over the Holy Mass. He was joined by Very Rev. Fr. Andrew Batayola, OSA (Prior Provincial of the Province of Sto. Niño de Cebu), the parish team of pastors led by Fr. Roy Aspera, OSA (Parish Priest), and other visiting priests.

Reflecting on today’s Gospel, the Archbishop reminded the faithful that each one is called to be the salt and light of the world—people whose presence brings joy, peace, and goodness to others.

In living this calling, he said, our words and actions become a witness through which others may encounter and see God at work in the world.

“Kon mosulod ta sa usa ka opisina o lawak, molamdag ba o mongiob? Naa gyoy mga tawo nga ang iyang presensya dili inspiring. Murag makahadlok. Kamong mga inahan o amahan, unsa inyong presence diha sa panimalay, nagdala ba og kahayag o kadasig? We are supposed to bring light joy to the world,” said Archbishop Abet.
