In his homily, the outgoing archbishop expressed his appreciation and gratitude to those who have contributed to the success of the annual Walk with Mary, noting that Cebu is certainly an Archdiocese in love with our Blessed Mother.
Reflecting on the life and message of the late Pope Francis, he urged devotees to see both joys and trials as sources of strength, to live in harmony by placing others’ needs above their own, and to share their blessings with hope, justice, and generosity—embracing these as paths of true Christian living.
“Anything beautiful for Mama Mary is worth doing, and worth doing with a smile… We know all of them are our ways of thanking God for the gift of Mama Mary,” the good archbishop said.
The good archbishop also encouraged the faithful never to lose hope, drawing strength from our reception of Christ in the Eucharist and in our Blessed Mother.
“The travel may not be that easy but we have Jesus… we have Mama Mary… we have the Eucharist as our source of strength. All we need is a desire to journey together with Mary. She walks with us. Our walk with Mary would certainly help us reach Heaven, our true home,” he exhorted.
