In commemoration of the feast of Saints Louis and Zelie Martin, parents of St. Therese of the Child Jesus, the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Cebu, through the Commission on Family and Life (CFL – Cebu), celebrates the 9th Archdiocesan Couples’ Day in Benedicto Hall, Sacred Heart Center, with the theme, “Families, be like Sts. Louis and Zelie Martin: Pilgrims of Hope.”

Cebu Archbishop Jose S. Palma presided over the Holy Mass. Fr. Eligio Suico (CFL-Spiritual Director), and district priest-companions were also present during the celebration.

In his homily, the good Archbishop encouraged the faithful to draw inspiration from the couple saints who raised such holy children and led holy lives.

“We honor and we thank the Lord for the gift of these saints, who, in their own lives, have concerns, care, and difficulties, yet they were able to overcome them and in the process that made them holy,” said Archbishop Palma.

Within the Eucharistic celebration, couples renewed their marriage vows.

The couples celebrating their 20th, 30th, 40th, and 50th wedding anniversaries were also recognized.

May the Lord keep all marriages in love and fidelity. Sts. Louis and Zelie Martin, pray for us.
