Faithful recall Cardinal Vidal’s life and hope

As we commemorate the 8th death anniversary of Ricardo J. Cardinal Vidal, a Requiem Mass was presided over by Cebu Archbishop-Emeritus Jose Palma at the Mausoleum inside the Cebu Metropolitan Cathedral compound.

He was joined by Cebu Auxiliary Bishop Antonio Rañola, and other visiting priests.

In his homily, Archbishop-Emeritus Palma remembered with gratitude the life and service of his predecessor having served the Archdiocese and the Universal Church.

He shared a profound reflection on an art piece depicting two angels — one pointing upward, the other downward. The artwork serves as a poignant reminder of the human journey—from life on earth to eternal life with God, where the downward-pointing angel signifies mortality and the upward one symbolizes the hope of rising to Him.

“We could not avoid dying in this world but the joy and hope of the Christian is kining kamatayon, dili kini katapusan sa tanan because in Jesus, we are being prepared for life with the Father in Heaven,” he said.
