The Commission on Youth of the Archdiocese of Cebu extends its heartfelt gratitude to all benefactors who generously responded to the call for help for our brothers and sisters in Northern Cebu affected by the recent magnitude 6.9 earthquake. As of October 5, 2025, the total cash donations received amounted to ₱109,384.48 through GCash and Metrobank. Alongside these, we also received generous in-kind donations such as rice, bottled water, hygiene kits, medicines, blankets, mats, flashlights, clothing, and other essential relief items.
The relief operations occurred in three phases. The first batch, donated to Sto. Niño Parish in Medellin last October 3, 2025, included water, rice, hygiene kits, blankets, mats, flashlights, food, and toiletries. The second batch was distributed to San Martin de Porres Parish in Tabogon by Green Rose Center for Academe, with 200 packed relief items consisting of rice, canned goods, and other essentials. The third batch, from Fairchild Cebu Community Multipurpose Cooperative (FCCMPC), was delivered to San Juan Nepomuceno Parish in San Remigio on October 5, 2025, with 100 sacks of five-kilo rice, 100 boxes of bottled water, 100 tarpaulins, and various foods such as noodles, sardines, biscuits, instant coffee, and other essentials —enough for 100 families.
We sincerely acknowledge the generosity of all who made these efforts possible. Your support has provided not only material assistance but also the reassurance that our affected communities are not alone in this time of crisis.
Starting October 6, 2025, however, as mandated by the Archbishop of Cebu, the donation drive initiative of the Commission on Youth will be officially turned over to Cebu Caritas, Inc. under the program Hatag Paglaum, the official social action and service arm of the Archdiocese of Cebu following this effort. The total collected amount of ₱109,384.48 will be handed over to Cebu Caritas, Inc. to aid the campaign.
Hatag Paglaum, a joint initiative of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Cebu (RCAC) through Cebu Caritas, Inc. and LH Foundation, Inc. (LHFI), invites benefactors to continue their generosity by sponsoring Relief Kits or by providing in-kind donations such as rice, water, food packs, and hygiene kits. These will be distributed directly through the parishes in Northern Cebu to ensure wider reach and sustainability. With its wider envisioned reach, your money will surely help a lot of our Cebuano fellows.
Once again, we thank you, our benefactors, partners, and volunteers, for your unwavering support. Your generosity is a true reflection of Christ’s love in action. As we move forward with Hatag Paglaum, let us remain united in bringing not only relief but also hope to our fellow Cebuanos in need.
