A native of Belmonte, Aragon, he taught Latin while he was a diocesan cleric. Later he made his profession as a Franciscan Friar of the province of San Juan Bautista in Valencia. In 1681 Fray Miguel was appointed Minister of Gumaca (Tayabas) and then in 1683 Procurator of Mexico and Superior of the Convento-Hospicio of San Agustin in Mexico.
While in Rome as a voting delegate In the General Chapter of his Order, he received his appointment as Bishop of Cebu in November 1695. Arriving in the Philippines the following year, he was instructed to immediately take possession of the Diocese even before his consecration by Archbishop Diego Camacho on the 21st of September 1699. He died in Cebu the following year on August 28 and was buried in the Church of the Jesuits in Cebu. He led an exemplary life as a religious, vigilant, approachable and simple In lifestyle as a prelate. At his death he left behind only six “reales” as his personal possession. His death was mourned by both priests and people who loved him as their father.
