RCAC commemorates 111th birthday of Venerable Camomot

Today, we commemorate the 111th birthday of Venerable Teofilo Camomot.

This year’s Handuraw is rooted in the theme, “Venerable Teofilo Camomot: Beacon of Hope of the Pilgrim Church.”

Cebu Archbishop Jose S. Palma presided over the Solemn Pontifical Mass at the Saint Teresa of Avila Chapel, Valladolid, Carcar. With him were Tandag Bishop Raul Dael, Cebu Auxiliary Bishop Emeritus Antonio Rañola, other visiting monsignori, and priests.

In his homily, the good Archbishop highlighted the selflessness of Venerable Camomot and how he always prioritizes the welfare of the people, especially those who need it most.

He reminded the faithful that, like Venerable Camomot, one of the best ways to glorify the Lord is to share the blessings He has bestowed upon us.

“Tanan kita nakadawat lain-laing gasa ug grasya sa Diyos, ug kining hatag ni Lord, dili lamang kini atoa. Gihatag kini aron kita mahimong instrumento sa Ginoo, makabuhat og kaayohan sa atong kaigsuonan. Mao kini ang gipakita ni Teofilo,” said Archbishop Palma.

We continue to pray for the cause of the beatification of Venerable Teofilo Camomot.

We would also like to remind, especially the lay faithful, NOT TO INVOKE YET the intentions of Venerable Teofilo Camomot, like: “Venerable Teofilo Camomot, pray for us,” as if he were already canonized as a saint.
