Today, the Archdiocese of Cebu commemorates the death anniversary of +Msgr. Rudy Villanueva.
+Msgr. Rudy is one of the pillars of seminary formation in the Archdiocese of Cebu. He is an award-winning and prolific literary writer known for his pen name, “Renato E. Madrid,” and a well-known composer and arranger of liturgical music.
Cebu Archbishop Jose S. Palma presided over the Holy Mass at the Martins of Lisieux Chapel, San Carlos Seminary College (SCSC). He was joined by the SCSC priest-formators.
In his homily, the good Archbishop exhorted the faithful to thank the Lord for the gift of +Msgr. Rudy and his great contribution to the church, especially in the Archdiocese of Cebu.
He added that we who are left behind are tasked to continue the journey.
“God has called Msgr. Rudy back home. We who are left behind are tasked to continue the journey of leading. Maybe this is the best legacy he has to us. We pray, guided by the Spirit, inspired by those who have gone ahead, that in our own little ways, we continue the journey,” said Archbishop Palma.
