Today, the community of the Archdiocesan Shrine of San Nicolas de Tolentino thanks God for the Inauguration of its Parish Museum.
Cebu Archbishop Jose S. Palma led the blessing, joined by Msgr. Roger Fuentes (Vicar General and Parish Team Moderator), the Parish Pastoral Council, and officials from the city and barangay council.
The Parish Museum houses religious images and artifacts that show the rich history of the community, serving as a testament to its deep-rooted faith and cultural heritage.
In his message, Msgr. Roger explains that this project, and the other landmarks within the church vicinity, is the community’s efforts to substantiate the claim as the oldest parish in mainland Cebu.
“To say San Nicolas is the oldest parish is not the mere repetition of words. It is already backed up with these tangible, historical objects,” said Msgr. Roger.
Archbishop Palma expressed his joy and congratulations to the parish team of pastors, the organizers, and the faithful for this beautiful initiative. It is even more meaningful because the inauguration happens on the Jubilee Year.
“Through this museum, we may be able to reflect on the past, celebrate with joy in the present, and look forward to the future with hope,” said the good Archbishop.
For those who wish to visit, kindly approach the parish office or go to the parish’s Facebook page for the details.
