Sogod faithful celebrate Calungsod fiesta

The Christian community of San Pedro Calungsod Parish in Mohon, Sogod, Cebu, gathers today in faith and gratitude to celebrate their Annual Parish Fiesta in honor of St. Pedro Calungsod, the young Visayan martyr.

Cebu Archbishop Alberto “Abet” Uy presided over the Eucharistic Celebration. He was joined by Fr. Lyndon Ruiz (Episcopal Vicar, District 7), Fr. Arnel Autida (Parish Priest), and other visiting priests.

Reflecting on the life of St. Pedro Calungsod, who embraced his faith with unwavering courage and ultimately paid the ultimate price at such a young age, the good Archbishop reminded the faithful that a meaningful life is not measured by its length but by its depth and quality.

“Kaning kinabuhi, dili ni patas-anay. Panindotay kini. Ang nindot nga kinabuhi, gihalad sa Ginoo. Ang nindot nga kamatayon, gihalad sa Ginoo, sama ni San Pedro Calungsod,” he exhorted.

After the Mass, as a gesture of solidarity and thanksgiving for the many blessings received, Archbishop Uy handed over relief kits to the parish to be distributed to families affected by the recent earthquakes.
