The Saint Joseph the Worker Parish in Tabunok, Talisay City, Cebu, celebrates its 63rd fiesta in honor of its patron, St. Joseph.
Dumaguete Bishop Julito Cortes presided over the Holy Mass, joined by the parish’s team of pastors: Fr. Dennis Baricuatro (Team Moderator), the team members Fr. Bernardo Oyao, Fr. Rey Vicente Resaba, Fr. Joseph C. Yntig, Fr. Eugenio Narsico, and other visiting priests.
In his homily, Bishop Cortes emphasized the value of work, reminding the faithful that there is no such thing as “small” or “big” work in the eyes of God.
“Walay gamay o dako nga trabaho … ang tan-awon sa Ginoo ang atong kamatinud-anon,” the bishop said.
Bishop Cortes reflected on the life of St. Joseph, who, in silence, remained faithful to his duty as both carpenter and father.
“Si San Jose nagtudlo kanato karon ang pagkamatinud-anon sa atong trabaho maghimo kanato nga balaan . . . Ang pagkahilom ug mapaubsanon nga trabahante, nagpalig-on sa atong pagpangalagad sa uban kay mapaubsanon man. Lig-on ang atong pagpangalagad, dili pagpangalagad nga adunay gipaabot . . . siguro makapangutana ta, ang akong pagpangalagad karon, ‘Am I serving with a hope kay aduna koy gipaabot nga ganti o pagdayeg o affirmation?’ Ang pagkahilom ug pagkamapailugon nga mag uugmad naglig-on sa atong pagpangalagad sa isig ka tawo,” Bishop Cortes said.
