Thousands join Penitential Walk with Mary for 461st Fiesta Señor

Thousands of devotees gathered at dawn today for the Penitential Walk with Mary, one of the anticipated highlights of the 461st Fiesta Señor.

The procession began at the Archdiocesan Shrine and Parish of Our Lady of Guadalupe de Cebu, traversed Osmeña Boulevard, and proceeded to the Basilica Minore del Santo Niño de Cebu.

Upon arrival at the Basilica, a Holy Mass presided over by Fr. Joselito Danao, Team Moderator of the Archdiocesan Shrine and Parish of Our Lady of Guadalupe de Cebu, followed.

Reflecting on the “mind of God,” Fr. Joy, in his homily, underscored that every person holds immense value and importance in His sight.

“Unsa man gyuy hunahuna sa Ginoo mga igsuon? Ang hunahuna sa Ginoo mao ni: Every human being is valuable and precious to God. That is the mind of God. Matag tawo bililhon ug mahinungdanon ug importante ka sa Ginoo,” said Fr. Danao.

He also reminded the faithful that true devotion involves transforming our hearts and actions to mirror the character of Christ in our daily lives.

“Being one in the Sto Niño, if [we] have the mind, the heart and the action, the word of God in our life, then we truly live to the theme, In Sto Nino, We are One,” he added.
