On this Second Sunday of Lent, seven (7) Seminarians from San Carlos Seminary College (SCSC) received the Cassock and Surplice during the Rite of Investiture.
Cebu Archdiocesan Chancellor Msgr. Renato Beltran presided over the Rite. He was joined by SCSC priest-formators led by the rector Msgr. Joseph Tan.
In his homily, Msgr. Beltran reminded the seminarians that the clerical garments are not something that they just wear; these are outward signs of an inward transformation.
With the investiture, he urged the seminarians to invest themselves in the formation.
“Invest in the life to holiness through prayer, meditation, tanang spiritual nga buhatunon. Invest pinaagi sa obedience sa mga balaod gikan sa formators. Invest also in charity, in pastoral works, sa mga buluhaton sulod sa seminaryo ug sa gawas,” said Msgr. Beltran.
He added that if they invest, they also have to divest themselves of things hindering their growth and formation.
“Divest yourself with that mentality nga inyo rang kaugalingon inyong gihunahuna. Divest yourself with all your selfish interests and motives, and allow yourself to be transformed by Christ,” said Msgr. Beltran.
The wearing of these vestments continues to be a visible sign of belief and the consecration of one’s life to the service of the Lord and His Church.
