RCAC welcomes three-day visitation of St. Charbel relic

The Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Cebu is set to welcome the three-day visitation of the Pilgrim Relic of St. Charbel Makhlouf from June 29 to July 1, inviting the faithful to deepen their faith and seek spiritual renewal through the intercession of the beloved Lebanese saint.

The relic visitation will begin on June 29 at San Carlos Seminary College, continue on June 30 at St. Joseph the Patriarch Parish, and conclude on July 1 with the relic’s return to San Carlos Seminary College.

Throughout the three-day pilgrimage, the faithful will have opportunities to participate in the veneration of the relic, the Sacrament of Confession, and the celebration of the Holy Mass.

The relic visitation offers devotees an opportunity to venerate one of the Catholic Church’s most revered saints, whose life of prayer, humility, and holiness continues to inspire millions around the world.

St. Charbel Makhlouf was a 19th-century Maronite priest and hermit from the mountains of Lebanon. After the death of his father when he was only three years old, he was raised in the Catholic faith by his devout uncles.

Drawn to a life of prayer and solitude, he entered the monastery in 1853 and was ordained to the priesthood in 1859. He later embraced the life of a hermit, dedicating himself to contemplation, penance, and the celebration of the Holy Eucharist.

During his lifetime, many people traveled to the Lebanese mountains to seek his blessing, inspired by his reputation for profound holiness and unwavering devotion to God.

His witness of sanctity gained worldwide recognition after his death, culminating in his canonization by Pope Paul VI in 1977.

The faithful are encouraged not only to pray for physical healing through St. Charbel’s intercession but, more importantly, to seek the deeper healing he consistently pointed to throughout his life—the reconciliation of souls with God, the renewal of faith, and a deeper love for Christ in the Holy Eucharist.
