SAP nuns bless new monastery

With grateful hearts, the community of the Sisters of the Society of the Angel of Peace in Cansojong, Talisay City, Cebu, blessed their Monasterio Expiatoria de la Sagrada Familia.

Prior to the blessing, Msgr. Elias M. Matarlo presided over a Holy Mass.

In his homily, Msgr. Elias reflected on the mission entrusted by Jesus to Saints Peter and Paul—a mission that remains relevant to all of us today: to remain steadfast in faith, to be missionaries of the Gospel, and to courageously defend the faith.

He reminded the faithful that whenever their faith is shaken by life’s trials and sufferings, they are called to look upon the suffering of Christ, who carried the cross for humanity. In Jesus, they find the assurance that they are never abandoned in their own struggles.

Like Saints Peter and Paul, who drew strength from Christ’s suffering, all of us are likewise called to persevere in faith, even amid hardships. Both apostles eventually embraced suffering and martyrdom as witnesses to their unwavering love and devotion to Jesus Christ.

“Kon kita naglisod, kon kita nag-antos, kon kita gipaantos, just look at Jesus suffering on the cross. Look at the image of Hesus Nazareno carrying the cross, nagpahinumdom that our life is also a life carrying our cross… ayaw ibundak so that in the end, we will also experience the resurrection,” said Msgr. Elias.
