In celebration of the Feast of Saints Louis and Zélie Martin, the Commission on Family and Life held its 1st Archdiocesan Couples Congress in conjunction with the 10th Archdiocesan Couples’ Day. The gathering centered on the theme “A Listening Family: A Step Towards a Synodal Journey for a Church Fully Alive.”
The morning session concluded with a Eucharistic Celebration presided over by Most Rev. Marvyn A. Maceda, D.D., Vice Chairman of the CBCP Commission on Family and Life. He was joined by Fr. Eligio Suico, Chairman of the Commission on Family and Life – Cebu, along with other visiting priests.
In his homily, Bishop Maceda reminded married couples to see one another as God’s gift, emphasizing the importance of listening within marriage and family life. He underscored that a listening Church begins with a listening family, where genuine dialogue, understanding, and love are nurtured.
“Ang problema magsugod sa pamilya, ug ang solusyon anaa ra pod sa pamilya. Magsugod diha sa pagpaminaw. Niana buhi ang pamilya, buhi ang Simbahan,” said Bishop Maceda.
Following the homily, the married couples solemnly renewed the promises they made during the Sacrament of Matrimony, reaffirming their commitment to love, fidelity, and lifelong service to one another under God’s grace.
