Cebu Archbishop Alberto “Abet” Uy presides over the Vespers Mass in preparation for the 19th Parish Fiesta of St. Augustine of Hippo Parish in Langtad, Naga City, Cebu.

He was joined by Fr. Russel Emmanuel Sungcad (Parish Priest), and other visiting priests.

Drawing from the timeless words of St. Augustine, “You have made us for Yourself, O Lord, and our hearts are restless until they rest in You,” Archbishop Abet reminded the faithful that every human heart is created for God, and that lasting peace can only be found in Him.

Reflecting on the Gospel’s call to seek what truly matters, the Archbishop also spoke about the meaning of authentic wealth, saying, “Ang pinakadato dili ang anaay daghang butang, kondili ang gamay ra’g panginahanglan.”

He emphasized that true richness is measured not by material possessions but by a heart that is content. A person who may have little yet has time for God, family, and what truly matters is genuinely wealthy.

In contrast, one who is never satisfied may spend a lifetime chasing worldly riches, leaving little room for the Lord and loved ones. Despite having an abundance of possessions, such a person remains spiritually poor.

Before the celebration of the Holy Eucharist, the parish and school community warmly welcomed the Archbishop with a special reception program. As a gesture of respect and hospitality, students offered a cultural dance presentation, showcasing the community’s joy and gratitude for his visit.

The parish will celebrate its Fiesta tomorrow, August 8, with the Pontifical Mass at 10:00 AM, to be presided over by Cebu Archbishop-Emeritus Jose S. Palma.
