Around 300 representatives from parishes across the Archdiocese of Cebu gathered for a two-day liturgical formation seminar at the Galilee Centrale of the Pope John XXIII Minor Seminary in Cebu City.

Spearheaded by the Saint Paul VI Institute of Liturgy (PIL), under the auspices of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) Episcopal Commission on Liturgy (ECL), through the Cebu Archdiocesan Commission on Worship, the gathering seeks to deepen and strengthen the liturgical life of the local Church.

Rooted in the spirit and wisdom of the Second Vatican Council, the formation focused on the proper organization and strengthening of Parish Masters of Ceremonies and Worship Committees, equipping them to serve more effectively in fostering reverent, orderly, and meaningful liturgical celebrations.

The seminar featured distinguished liturgy scholars and formators, including Msgr. Florencio Salvador, CLD; Fr. Amelito Racelis, SDB, SLL; and Fr. Raul Pura, CM, SLL, all associated with the Saint Paul VI Institute of Liturgy in Malaybalay, Bukidnon.

Cebu Archbishop Alberto “Abet” Uy presided over the 4:00 PM Eucharistic Celebration.

In his homily, Archbishop Abet reflected on the Blessed Mother’s example of selfless service and love, encouraging everyone to bring that same spirit into their liturgical ministry.

“Si Maria nagdasig kanato, to step out, and give ourselves, and share our joy to others,” said Archbishop Abet.

He expressed his gratitude to the liturgical ministers and lay leaders for their commitment to the parish communities.

“Mga igsuon, maanindot kaayo na siya nga inspirasyon matag usa kanato, ilabi na gyud diha sa parokya. Kanang inyong gipangbuhat, ang pagpangalagad diha sa simbahan, hinaot ko, makapaduol kaninyo sa gingharian sa Diyos,” he added.

The formation program will formally conclude tomorrow, August 16.
