Cebu Archbishop Alberto “Abet” Uy presided over the Vespers Mass in preparation for the 31st Parochial Fiesta of Our Lady of the Assumption Parish in Tindog, Medellin, Cebu.
He was joined by Fr. Richard Rama, Parish Priest, together with other visiting priests.
Drawing from the life of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Archbishop Abet reminded the faithful of the importance of listening to God and allowing His Word to transform our lives.
He highlighted Mary as the perfect example of one who listened to God, welcomed His message, and lived it each day.
“Si Maria ang unang tinun-an nga naminaw ug nagpuyo sa mensahe sa Diyos sa adlaw-adlaw,” Archbishop Abet said.
He reminded the faithful that, like Mary, listening to God means not only hearing His Word but keeping it in our hearts and putting it into action. He encouraged everyone to listen with an open heart, respond to God with love, and make time to truly listen to one another, especially within our families.
Through Mary’s example, he called the faithful to live God’s message by becoming more understanding, compassionate, and merciful—keeping our eyes fixed on heaven while our hands remain ready to serve others.
May Mary, our model of listening and service, continue to lead us closer to Christ
The parish will celebrate its fiesta tomorrow, August 15, with the Fiesta Mass at 10:00 AM, to be presided over by Fr. Peter Necessario (Episcopal Vicar of District VI).
