The Feast of Our Lady, Star of the Sea was celebrated alongside the 31st National Seafarers’ Sunday, the 27th Maritime Week, and the 40th National Migrants’ Sunday.
In Cebu, the Apostleship of the Sea (AOS) Stella Maris Seafarers’ Center – Cebu Foundation, Inc., together with the Archdiocesan Commission on Migrant and Itinerant People (ACMIP), held a fluvial procession in the waters off Cebu City from Terminal 2, Pier 3. This was followed by a Memorial and Wreath-Laying Ceremony for deceased and missing seafarers who gave their lives in the line of duty and service at sea.
AOS and ACMIP Chaplain Fr. John Mission led the fluvial procession and memorial program. He was joined by priests from various missionary congregations, representatives from the Philippine Coast Guard and the Department of Migrant Workers, as well as seafarers and maritime workers.
Also present during the memorial program were the families of deceased and missing seafarers who lost their lives in the line of duty and service at sea.
This afternoon, Cebu Archbishop Alberto “Abet” Uy will preside over the Holy Mass and tribute to our beloved seafarers and migrant workers.
Let us continue to pray for our seafarers and migrant workers, that God may protect them from all dangers as they journey across the seas. We also offer our prayers for the eternal repose of those who have died, and for the comfort and strength of the families they have left behind.
