With joy and thanksgiving, Cebu Archbishop Alberto “Abet” Uy presides over the Eucharistic Celebration at St. Joseph Chapel, Archbishop’s Residence, Cebu City, on October 18, marking his 60th birthday.
In his homily, Archbishop Abet reflected on one of the most important realizations he has learned to embrace in his 60 years of life: everything belongs to God.
He called on the faithful to entrust themselves to the Lord and surrender to His will, recognizing that life itself is a gift to be received with gratitude and lived in faith.
Following the Final Blessing, the Cebu City Government, led by Mayor Nestor Archival and Vice Mayor Tomas Osmeña, together with Cebu Provincial Governor Pamela Baricuatro, presented the Archbishop with his official Senior Citizen ID.
Earlier in the day, Cebu Archbishop-Emeritus Jose Palma and Prosperidad Bishop Ruben Labajo also joined in greeting Archbishop Abet and giving thanks to God for the gift of his life and ministry.
As our dear Archbishop marks this milestone, we continue to pray that the Lord may grant him good health, wisdom, strength, and a heart that remains steadfast in serving God and His people. May he continue to lead with faith, walk with humility, and bring Christ’s love to the communities entrusted to his pastoral care.
