Today, the Presbyterium of the Archdiocese of Cebu gathered at the Martins of Lisieux Chapel for their Monthly Recollection.
It began with a Holy Hour led by Rev. Alvin Cajes, MLCC. Afterward, Fr. Jack Luna, OSA, gave a reflection anchored on the theme “Rediscovering the Gift of Priesthood and the Need for Ongoing Formation.”
Fr. Jack is the Chairman of the Commission on Community Life and Ongoing Formation of the Province of Sto. Nino de Cebu – Philippines. He is the Director of the Santo Niño Spirituality Center in Brgy. Tolotolo, Consolacion, Cebu, where he oversees retreats and spiritual formation programs.
He reminded the Presbyterium that the Priesthood is a gift from God, and they must keep this gift safe, to become efficacious ministers of God’s Mercy and Love for the people.
“The best ministry we can do is when we work on ourselves. The ultimate beneficiaries of this are the faithful. Priesthood is a gift. And since it is a gift, we need to take care of it, and allow it to grow for others,” said Fr. Jack.
He added that the role of ongoing formation is to help keep the zeal in ministering to the people of God aflame.
Let us continue to pray for our priests, that they may be strengthened in their resolve to serve God through the Faithful.
