Devotees of the Divine Mercy from all over Asia convene for the 5th Asian Apostolic Congress on Mercy (AACOM), which officially opened today.
The 5th AACOM is anchored on the theme: “Divine Mercy: Pilgrimage of Hope in Asia.”
The Apostolic Nuncio to the Philippines Archbishop Charles Brown presided over the Opening Mass at the Basilica Minore del Sto. Niño de Cebu.
The Papal Nuncio was joined by Cebu Archbishop Jose S. Palma, Cebu Auxiliary Bishop Ruben Labajo, Antipolo Bishop Ruperto Santos (Episcopal Coordinator, Divine Mercy Philippines, and Asia), other visiting bishops, monsignori, and priests.
In his homily, reflecting on today’s Gospel, Papal Nuncio reminded the pilgrims of the “infinitely more valuable and infinitely more beautiful” sacrifice God has done for us through Jesus.
“Whenever we look at the image, and we see the red and white that comes from the heart of Jesus, we see the symbolized blood and water; we see the amazing mercy of God…We have a religion in which God has sent His Son and sacrifice for us. That is the mercy of God. That’s the love of God for each one of us,” said the Apostolic Nuncio.
Tomorrow, October 15, delegates will gather at the IC3 for orientation and the start of the conferences.
