On this Feast of Our Lady of Fatima, the Archdiocesan Shrine and Parish of Our Lady of Fatima in Basak, Mandaue City, celebrates its annual fiesta with the theme: “Celebrating Jubilee 2025 with Mary as Pilgrims of Hope.”
Cebu Archbishop Alberto “Abet” Uy presided over the Holy Mass. He was joined by the parish team of pastors, Fr. Joselito Gutierrez (Team Moderator), the team members: Fr. Camilo Villamor Jr., Fr. Marion Mejia, and Fr. Wesly Noel, and other visiting priests.
Reflecting on the apparition of the Blessed Virgin Mary at Fatima, Archbishop Abet reminded the faithful that while the miraculous event of the dancing sun holds great significance, our greater focus should be on the enduring message of Our Lady — to pray fervently, repent sincerely, and return wholeheartedly to the Lord.
“Hangtud karon, daghan nato, magsige pa tag panghinaot, nangandoy ta nag-ampo ta nga kon motambong ta og fiesta sa Birhen sa Fatima, makakita ta og adlaw nga mosayaw. Pero mga igsuon, I hope you understand, nga katong milagro, importante man to. Pero dunay mas labi pang importante ato. Unsa man? Ang mensahe sa Mahal nga Birhen sa Fatima. Pag-ampo, paghinulsol, ug balik na kamo ngadto sa Diyos,” said Archbishop Abet.
