Seeking to strengthen bonds and deepen understanding within the Church, Cebu Archbishop Alberto “Abet” Uy has begun a listening journey with the presbyterium of the Archdiocese of Cebu.
More than a series of consultations, this initiative reflects the Archbishop’s commitment to genuine dialogue—a desire to listen, learn, and walk closely with the priests who shepherd the faithful across the province.
On this first leg of the journey, the clergy of District 4, representing Southwest Cebu, gathered at San Juan Nepomuceno Parish in Moalboal. The day began with a warm welcome from the local faithful, a tree planting activity, followed by a Eucharistic celebration presided over by Archbishop Uy.
In his homily, the Archbishop reminded both clergy and laity that living the Gospel goes beyond words. Our faith, he emphasized, must be made visible through our actions in the ordinary moments of life.
Following the Mass, the priests entered into a time of reflection and conversation, sharing their experiences and hopes for how they can continue to grow together in unity and service as one presbyterium.
This ongoing journey, rooted in listening and communion, marks another step in the Church’s mission to be truly synodal—a community that walks together, listens to one another, and bears witness to Christ in the world.
