Archbishop Uy: Share What Truly Matters

Today, Cebu Archbishop Alberto “Abet” Uy presided over the Visperas Mass at the Chapel of San Pedro Calungsod in South Road Properties, Cebu City.

He was joined by Msgr. Roberto Alesna (Chaplain) and other visiting priests.

Reflecting on today’s Gospel about inheritance, greed, and possession, Archbishop Abet reminded the faithful that when people are generous to each other, there is joy and peace; but when people are greedy, there will be chaos and many quarrels.

“San Pedro Calungsod teaches us what true treasure is. He owned no land, no money, no title, yet he was rich in faith, courage, and love. While the rich man in the Gospel built barns for himself, San Pedro Calungsod built the Kingdom of God in the hearts of others,” said Archbishop Abet.

He emphasized that St. Pedro Calungsod’s treasure was not gold but grace.

“My dear friends, that meeting place in the middle of generosity is where God blesses. When we stop fighting over what we cannot bring to heaven and start sharing what truly matters, we discover what it truly means to be rich. Let us live not for ourselves, but for others,” said the good Archbishop.

Tomorrow, October 21, the Chapel of San Pedro Calungsod will celebrate its 13th Annual Fiesta. Cebu Archbishop-Emeritus Jose Palma will preside over the 6:00 PM Solemn Pontifical Mass.
