Archbishop Uy leads Recollection for synodal journey

Cebu Archbishop Alberto “Abet” Uy, together with the Vicars General, Archdiocesan Chancellor, Episcopal Vicars, and members of the Archdiocesan Synodal Team, gathered for a recollection and day of prayer to mark the beginning of a profound spiritual journey leading to two historic milestones — the 2000th Anniversary of the Redemption in 2033 and the Centennial of Cebu as an Archdiocese in 2034.

Rooted in reflection and renewal, the recollection centered on the Archdiocesan Synod Implementation Report, which embodies the local expression of the Sulong-Padayon National Synodal Framework (CBCP 2025). Under Archbishop Uy’s pastoral guidance, this framework has been thoughtfully contextualized for Cebu, setting the direction for the Church’s nine-year synodal journey (2025–2034).

Together, they envision a Fully Alive Synodal Church — one that learns deeply, celebrates faithfully, and witnesses joyfully to the Gospel in every community.

As the Church looks ahead to commemorate Christ’s redemptive love two millennia after the Resurrection and a century of Cebu’s ecclesial life, its leaders commit to walking together in faith, dialogue, and mission — ensuring that the Church of today becomes ever more listening, participative, and missionary for generations to come.
