As the Universal Church commemorates Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal, Cebu Archbishop Alberto S. Uy celebrated the Pontifical Fiesta Mass at the Chapel of Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal run by the Daughters of Charity. The Community of Believers were pushed forward by the theme: With Mary, Hope dwells among us.

The Archbishop was joined by a number of visiting priests, both Diocesan and Religious. Among them was Fr. Gerald Borja, the Father Superior of the Congregation of the Mission here in Cebu.

In his Homily, the Archbishop reminded the faithful to stay close to our Blessed Mother. He reminded the faithful of the great love of a mother for her children, and that Mary has that same love for all of us, especially to those who are deeply devoted to her.

“Duna bay inahan nga malipay kun mawala ang iyang anak? Duna bay inahan nga mosugot nga ang iyang anak pasakitan? Duna bay inahan nga makatulog ra kun ang iyang anak dili pa mauli? Wa gyuy inahan nga mosugot nga mawala ta. That is why if we go to Mary, we are assured that she will bring us to Jesus,” said Archbishop Abet.

Since this marked the first visit of the Archbishop to Asilo dela Milagrosa since his installation, the Daughters of Charity from their different Pastoral Assignments all over the Archdiocese had a short audience with the Archbishop before the Mass, together with the Fathers of the Congregation of the Mission.
