Archbishop honors caregivers as God’s healing hands

The Our Lady of Lourdes Parish in Ocaña, City of Carcar, Cebu, celebrates today its 63rd Annual Fiesta.

Cebu Archbishop Alberto “Abet” S. Uy presided over the Fiesta Mass, together with Fr. Joeryll S. Chan (Parish Priest), and other visiting priests.

In his homily, the good Archbishop reminded the faithful on the World Day of the Sick that, beyond any physical treatment, there is the healing power of God for every soul.

“The doctor treats, but it is God who heals. Kon masakit ta, magpa-doctor man ta, magpatambal man ta. Pero nindot nga sa dili pa ta moadto sa doctor, mag-ampo una ta sa Ginoo: ‘Lord, please bendisyoni o giyahi ang akong doctor aron matagaan ko niya og tambal para sa akoang gibati na sakit’,” said Archbishop Abet.

He also emphasized that through accompaniment and unity, we become the presence of God; this then becomes an opportunity to love and serve Him as we heal one another’s souls and care for the sick.

“Mga doctors, nurses, sakop sa pamilya nga naay giatiman nga masakiton, what you are doing is holy work. Karong panahona kamo ang kamot sa Diyos,” said Archbishop Abet.
