OLSH scholarship strengthens mission for underprivileged

Earlier today, members of the Board of the Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Scholarship Fund, Inc. convened for their Annual Meeting at the Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Parish along N. Escario Street in Capitol, Cebu City.

Present during the gathering were Cebu Archbishop Emeritus Jose S. Palma, DD, who serves as Board President; Prosperidad Bishop Ruben C. Labajo; Msgr. Rogelio T. Fuentes, Vicar General; along with other members of the Board.

During the meeting, the Board reviewed updates on the scholars and discussed concrete initiatives and sustainable strategies to strengthen support for underprivileged youth seeking access to higher education.

The gathering culminated in a heartfelt musical offering from current scholars, who rendered a repertoire of Marian songs as an expression of gratitude and a tribute to the Blessed Mother on the Solemnity of the Annunciation of the Lord.

Founded from the vision of Msgr. Vicente “Jong” Florido Jr., the Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Scholarship Fund, Inc. is a non-stock, non-profit organization that provides comprehensive college scholarships to deserving students from economically challenged families.

Beyond financial assistance, the Fund places strong emphasis on Christian formation. Scholars gather every Sunday afternoon for regular formation.

The organization was officially registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission and Bureau of Internal Revenue in 2003. While it is independent, the Scholarship Fund operates under the pastoral guidance of the Archdiocese of Cebu.
