Today, the Spiritual Pastoral Formation Year (SPFY) Batch 2025-2026, the Class of Bukag, composed of 12 seminarians, has successfully concluded their non-academic formation year.
Cebu Archbishop Alberto “Abet” Uy presided over the Eucharistic Celebration at the Cebu Archdiocesan Shrine of San Pedro Calungsod. He was joined by the priest-formators and other visiting priests.
Reflecting on today’s Gospel, the Archbishop urged seminarians and priests to continually examine the sincerity of their words and actions.
He emphasized that every gesture of ministry must be rooted in authentic love and genuine concern for others—never driven by the desire for recognition or personal gain, but by a selfless commitment to serve.
“We can become functional, efficient, even pastoral on the outside. But inside, something is no longer pure. Let Judas be a warning. Closeness to Jesus is not enough. There must be sincerity of heart,” said Archbishop Abet.
Let us pray for these seminarians as they continue their journey, asking the Lord to guide their steps, strengthen their hearts, and lead them ever closer to the faithful fulfillment of their calling.
Congratulations, Class of Bukag!
