Archbishop Uy urges mercy amid global crises on Divine Mercy feast

On this Feast of the Divine Mercy, the Archdiocesan Shrine of the Divine Mercy in Garing, Consolacion, Cebu, celebrates its 13th Annual Fiesta.

Cebu Archbishop Alberto “Abet” Uy presided over the 3:00 PM Fiesta Mass.

As the world grapples with war, the escalating threat of global warming, the spread of misinformation, and the misuse and abuse of artificial intelligence, Archbishop Abet underscored in his homily that now, more than ever, humanity stands in urgent need of God’s mercy.

“Kini atong sitwasyon karon lisod na kaayo. Lisod atong kahimtang. But we trust that God is still in control. And He can do what we cannot do. Mahimo sa Diyos ang tanan. Ang ato lang nga magpabilin ta Niya nga masaligon,” said Archbishop Abet.

He further underscored that as the Father is merciful, so too are the faithful called to become living witnesses of that mercy—extending compassion, forgiveness, and love to others in a world that longs for healing.

“Simbako ang mga deboto sa Diyosnong kaluoy, way kaluoy. Mas hadlok pa nas earthquake. Una gyod ta sa kaluoy sa isigkatawo,” he said.
