Cebu clergy reflect on becoming a listening Church in June recollection

The Diocesan and Religious Clergy of Cebu gather once more at Pope John XXIII Seminary for their Monthly Recollection. For this month, our Clergy reflected on what it is to become a Listening Church.

The day began with a Holy Hour led by Rev. Rey Anthony Baluran. This was followed by inputs given by the Coordinating Council on Synodal Transformation.

In the afternoon, Cebu Archbishop Alberto S. Uy, together with Msgr. Rogelio Fuentes, VG, Fr. Eduardo Ventic (District II Episcopal Vicar), and the rest of the Presbyterium celebrated the Holy Mass.

Reflecting on the account of the Samaritan Woman, the Archbishop exhorted his priests to listen first before acting.

“A listening church is not a Church without leaders; it is a Church that is humble enough to listen… perhaps that is what our people are asking from us today. Not perfection. Not extraordinary talents. Simply shepherds who are willing to walk with them, listen to them, and accompany them.” Said Archbishop Abet

In this month dedicated to the Sacred Heart of Jesus, let us entrust our priests to the Love of God, that their example and ministry may radiate that very love to all.
