Cebu Archbishop Alberto “Abet” Uy marks his 60th birthday by spending time with the elderly residents of Gasa sa Gugma in Mabolo, Cebu City.
Beyond leading the feeding program, the Archbishop offers something equally meaningful: his presence, his time, and the assurance that the elderly are not forgotten in their journey through life.
Managed by the Missionaries of Charity, the congregation founded by St. Teresa of Calcutta, Gasa sa Gugma provides a home for elderly individuals experiencing abandonment, illness, disability, or extreme poverty.
Many of its residents are wheelchair-bound or bedridden, depending on donations and the generosity of its benefactors and volunteers for their daily needs.
The Archbishop’s visit is a gentle reminder that love is not measured only by what we give, but also by the time we share and the presence we offer.
