Archbishop Uy highlights righteous fatherhood at Tayud novena Mass

Today, the St. Joseph, Husband of Mary Parish in Tayud, Consolacion, holds its 2nd Day Novena in preparation for its 27th Annual Parochial Fiesta.

Cebu Archbishop Alberto “Abet” Uy presided over the Holy Mass. He was joined by Msgr. Jan Thomas Limchua (Counselor of the Apostolic Nunciature to the Kingdom of the Netherlands), Fr. Reymilo Talaugon (Parish Priest), Fr. Clark Acibron (Parochial Vicar), and other visiting priests.

In his homily, Archbishop Abet reflected on St. Joseph’s character as a righteous man, emphasizing that righteousness is not a spiritual concept but a practical way of life to be lived in the home as a faithful husband and responsible father.

“A righteous husband is not one who leaves when things become difficult, but one who stays and remains committed,” said Archbishop Abet.

He also added that a truly righteous father is defined by his presence and his willingness to embrace the responsibility of leading his family closer to God through example and prayer.

“But what is the use of giving everything if we fail to bring our family to God? A righteous husband and father brings his family to Holy Mass, teaches his children how to pray, and lives with integrity and righteousness,” he said.

The parish will celebrate its fiesta on April 25, 2026. Vicar General Msgr. Rogelio Fuentes will preside over the 10:00 AM Fiesta Mass.
