In preparation for the celebration of the National BEC Sunday 2026, the Archdiocesan Commission on Basic Ecclesial Communities (BEC) hosted the Second Saturday Webinar with the theme “Christ, the Redeemer: Healing in the Midst of Woundedness.”
Fr. Abel Villarojo, Dean of Studies of the Seminario Mayor de San Carlos, served as the webinar’s keynote speaker, who guided the participants to a reflection on the topic “Glory and Praise to our Lord Jesus Christ: Redemption and Healing in the Midst of Woundedness.”
In his reflection, Fr. Villarojo emphasized that amid pain, brokenness, and uncertainty, Christ remains the source of redemption, healing, and hope. Through His grace, wounds can become paths toward renewal, deeper faith, and restored communion with God and with others.
“We are a people of deep faith, yet we are also a wounded people. We take pride in our rich devotions and vibrant expressions of faith, yet we often fall short in our mission to evangelize a nation wounded by corruption, division, and injustice. Still, we hold on to the hope that the Lord never abandons His wounded people. The light of Christ shines most powerfully through the cracks of our woundedness,” Fr. Villarojo said.
Drawing from the Gospel of John 21:20-25, he invited participants to recognize the wounds carried by individuals, communities, and society today, while rediscovering the beauty of being redeemed and healed by Christ.
“Christ always meets us where we are. He understands our weakness, our woundedness, and our limitations. Yet He does not leave us there. He empowers us to love more fully by teaching us to offer our lives as a living sacrifice for others,” he added.
