The Coordinating Council on Synodal Transformation (CCOST) gathered today at the Filipiniana Hall of the Archbishop’s Residence to review the ongoing formation initiatives being conducted across the districts, vicariates, and parishes of the Archdiocese of Cebu as part of its journey toward the centennial celebration in 2034 and beyond.

Also present were the priest-directors and representatives of the Archdiocese’s various commissions and ministries to discuss the next phase of cascading these formation programs to their respective commissions, movements, and apostolates, ensuring that the vision of a synodal Church reaches every level of the local Church.

The council revisited the timeline of the synodal journey, assessed the milestones already achieved, reflected on the fruits of formation efforts, and discerned the next steps to guide the Archdiocese in the years ahead.

In his message, Cebu Archbishop Alberto “Abet” Uy encouraged everyone to draw inspiration from the image of a single lighted candle.

Rather than becoming overwhelmed by the magnitude of the mission, he urged the council to recognize every small step forward and every sign of hope as a testament to God’s faithful work among His people.

He likewise emphasized the indispensable role of the Holy Spirit in this journey, inviting everyone to entrust every initiative to God’s guidance so that these efforts may continue to transform the local Church of Cebu into a truly listening, missionary, and fully alive Church.

As the Archdiocese continues its pilgrimage toward its centennial, let us pray for the grace of perseverance, wisdom, and fidelity, that these initiatives may bear abundant fruit and lead our local Church ever deeper into the synodal journey.
