More than 300 children, parents, and youth advocates participated in the 5th Archdiocesan Children’s Congress organized by the Archdiocesan Safeguarding of Minors and Vulnerable Adults Ministry, in partnership with the Salvatorian Pastoral Care for Children (SPCC), at the Parish Gymnasium of the Archdiocesan Shrine and Parish of San Nicolas de Tolentino in Cebu City.
Anchored on the theme, “Listen, Protect and Empower: Hearing Children’s Voices for a Safer Church and Nation,” the Congress highlighted the importance of listening to children’s experiences, recognizing their rights, and strengthening the shared responsibility of protecting and empowering them.
The Congress commenced with the Holy Mass presided by Rev. Fr. Sherwin Leo Ferrater (Coordinator of the Archdiocesan Safeguarding Ministry), and Rev. Fr. Christian James Mayol (Ministry Member).
After the Holy Mass, children from different parishes participated in various interactive activities and games designed to help the children better understand the importance of safeguarding, personal safety, and child protection.
Through these activities, they were encouraged to recognize the value of their voices, express themselves freely, and understand their role in promoting safe and caring communities.
The gathering reflected the Archdiocese’s continuing commitment to fostering communities where every child is valued, heard, respected, and protected.
