Volunteers for the upcoming 2nd Cebu Metropolitan Catholic Mass Media Congress (CM-CMMC) gathered for a day of formation, fellowship, and mission preparation at the Galilee Centrale of Pope John XXIII Seminary in Mabolo, Cebu City.
The volunteers began the day with an enriching workshop and team-building activity facilitated by distinguished leaders from the Ramon Aboitiz Foundation Inc. (RAFI) Community Development Group—Dr. Bhobby Nacorda, Rid Balmores, and Johny Pepito. The activity strengthened teamwork, fostered camaraderie, and prepared the volunteers to serve together in the congress’s various committees.
The day concluded with a Holy Mass presided over by Cebu Archdiocesan Digital Communications Ministry (CADComM) Spiritual Director Fr. Andrei Ventanilla, with Fr. Noel Meñoso as concelebrant.
In his homily, Fr. Ventanilla reminded the volunteers that Christian service begins with a willing heart.
“Since you are volunteers, always remember that the word ‘volunteer’ comes from the Latin word ‘voluntas,’ which means will. So, you must be willingly kind, merciful, and compassionate as you willingly joined to help in preparing for the 2nd CM-CMMC,” he said.
Before the Mass concluded, a Pinning Ceremony was held, which served as the volunteers’ official send-off, signifying that they had been commissioned and were ready to begin their mission for the Congress.
Following the Eucharistic celebration, CADComM Director Fr. Junel Fuentes presented the Congress plans and program flow, giving the volunteers an overview of the different activities and helping them prepare for their respective roles.
Adding to the day’s joy was a special raffle of limited-edition St. Carlo Acutis plushies for the volunteers present. These plushies will also be made available to the public soon.
The CM-CMMC is a biennial gathering of Church media ministers from various dioceses and institutions, offering an avenue for formation, reflection, and shared insights as they continue their mission of evangelizing in the digital world.
This year’s congress will take place on October 3–4, 2026, at the University of San Jose–Recoletos (USJ-R) Basak Campus.
