Mission and Vision
The Archdiocese of Cebu Catechetical Ministry envisions to aspire and develop integrated catechists who are deeply rooted in Christ and are committed sincerely to the task of building the Kingdom of God through catechetical instruction.
We commit ourselves to the realization of the vision by:
- Planning suitable catechetical programs for catechists to become effective communicators of the Gospel message,
- Implementing and coordinating catechetical programs that guide catechists to faithful stewardship of the Kingdom and
- Assessing and evaluating periodically these programs that ultimately unite catechists to become a community of disciples.
Formation Programs
- Basic Orientation Seminar (BOS): This orientation is offered to the faithful aspiring to become a catechist. The program is given for four consecutive weekends and the participants will receive the certificate of completion of the course.
- Catechist’s Basic Formation Program (CBFP): This program is offered to volunteer catechists of their respective parishes. Designed to deepen the catechists’ knowledge of our Catholic Faith, equip them with the skills on how to share the faith more effectively, receive suitable biblical, theological, pastoral and pedagogical formation to be more competent communicators of the truth of the faith and to set their hearts with apostolic enthusiasm for the ministry. It runs for 20 weekends live-in and will culminate with a 3-day retreat and the Missio Canonica.
- Monthly Ongoing Formation of Catechists
- Annual Updating of the Parish Catechetical Coordinators (UPCC)
- Monthly Council of District and Vicariate Catechetical Coordinators Meetings (CDVCC)
- Catechetical Month Celebration (Archdiocesan, District, Vicarial and Parish Level)
- Annual Evaluation and Planning
