Cebu Commission on Worship

The Commission on Worship of Cebu and Archdiocesan Liturgical Commission acts as an advisory body helping the Bishop assess liturgical needs, develop guidelines, and implement liturgical norms.

MISSION:

1. To support and assist the Bishop in fulfilling his role as the moderator, promoter, and guardian of the liturgical life of the archdiocese.
2. To provide liturgical formation and training for clergy, liturgical ministers, and parish liturgy/worship committees.
3. To develop basic and ongoing liturgical formation programs.
4. To provide materials for proper liturgical information such as guidelines, pointers, memorandums, and information on various liturgical aspects.
5. To assist in the planning and coordination of major archdiocesan liturgical events and to ensure that the faithful implementation of the universal and particular liturgical norms.
6. To advise the Bishop and the Office of Worship on liturgical matters, to assess liturgical needs, and to contribute to the development of policies and guidelines for the archdiocese.
7. To collaborate with other diocesan commissions, national liturgical bodies, and academic institutions to stay informed about best practices and contribute to the ongoing development of liturgical understanding and practice.

VISION:

1. To see that the liturgy is celebrated with beauty, dignity, reverence, and a deep understanding of its meaning.
2. To promote the full, conscious, and active participation of all faithful in the liturgical celebrations.
3. To foster the spiritual growth and renewal of the archdiocesan community through simple, prayerful, meaningful and correct liturgical experiences.
4. To commit to the ongoing liturgical renewal envisioned the reform of Vatican II and by relevant Church documents.
5. To adhere to the liturgical objectives of the Liturgical Office of the Holy See and the CBCP Episcopal Commission on Liturgy.
6. To ensure that proper and correct liturgical practices are effectively implemented across the archdiocese.
