On this 18th Sunday in Ordinary Time, Cebu Archbishop Alberto “Abet” Uy presided over the Eucharistic Celebration at the St. Martin of Lisieux Chapel of San Carlos Seminary College to mark the 40th day since the passing of +Most Rev. Emilio “Boy” Bataclan, DD.

Concelebrating with the Archbishop were Cebu Archbishop Emeritus Jose S. Palma, Msgr. Vicente Rey Penagunda, Vicar General of the Archdiocese of Cebu, the seminary priest-formators, and visiting priests.

In his homily, Archbishop Abet reflected on how the life and ministry of Bishop Boy continue to bear witness to what truly matters in life.

Recalling the countless messages and tributes shared by those whose lives had been touched by the late bishop, he said these heartfelt testimonies reveal the lasting impact of a life lived in faithful service to God and His people.

The Archbishop emphasized that when life comes to its end, the greatest treasure we leave behind is not material wealth or earthly achievements, but the love we have shared, the faith we have nurtured, and the lives we have inspired.

As the Archdiocese continues to remember +Bishop Boy with gratitude, the faithful are invited to pray for the eternal repose of his soul and to carry forward the seeds of faith, hope, and love that he generously planted in the hearts of many throughout his ministry.
