Today, the Christian Community of Saint Anthony of Padua Parish of Guinsay, Danao City, celebrates its annual Parish Fiesta in honor of its titular.

A Solemn Mass was offered by Cebu Archbishop Alberto S. Uy, together with Fr. Lyndon Ruiz (Episcopal Vicar), Fr. Ruben Bajenting (Parish Priest) and other visiting priests.

Drawing from the exemplary life of Saint Anthony as a priest and preacher, the good Archbishop exhorted the faithful to share in the Church’s mission of preaching. He reminded the faithful that just as Christ sent the seventy-two, so we are also sent to preach the Word of God.

“Dili man kinahanglan naa mo dinhi [sa pulpito] aron magsangyaw. We can preach in ordinary ways and in normal circumstances through our words [and actions] … Pinaagi sa atong mahigugmaon nga pag-alagad, pagserbisyo, pagtabang sa silingan, atong gisangyaw ang gugma sa Diyos sa kalibutan,” said Archbishop Abet.
