San Isidro’s simplicity inspires Maya parish faithful

Today, the San Isidro Labrador Parish in Maya, Daanbantayan, Cebu, marks its 7th Day Novena in preparation for its 64th Annual Parish Fiesta.

Cebu Archbishop Alberto “Abet” Uy presided over the Holy Mass. He was joined by Fr. Wilfredo Castillo (Parish Priest) and other visiting priests.

In his homily, the good Archbishop emphasized that San Isidro Labrador was but a simple and ordinary farmer, yet he sanctified his daily labor by offering every hardship, effort, and sacrifice to God.

Despite having little in life, the saint’s generosity overflowed, faithfully sharing what he had with those in need. This is a reminder for all of us that holiness is found not in greatness of status, but in a life humbly offered in love and service.

“Kon mabulahan ta, magrasyahan ta, dapat di ta malimot sa uban. Magpaambit ta sa atong kaigsuonan,” said Archbishop Abet.

Prior to the Mass, the good Archbishop blessed the new parish public comfort rooms and belfry.

On Friday, May 15, Fr. Peter Necesario (Episcopal Vicar of District 6) will preside over the 10:00 AM Fiesta Mass.
